Iguodala, Casspi questionable for Warriors season opener

With their core from last season intact, the Warriors are certainly bound for another phenomenal season. Yet, it is uncertain if Andre Iguodala (back) and Omri Casspi (ankle) will see any time on opening night, despite both participating in a full practice.

“Everybody practiced today, but I would still call Omri and Andre questionable,” head coach Steve Kerr said Monday afternoon. “Shaun’s probable, he practiced today and looked fine.”

After five minutes on the court Friday night against the Sacramento Kings, Casspi suffered a right ankle sprain and did not return to the game. He jumped around between three teams last season–the New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves and Kings–but only played 36 games. He averaged 5.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 17.9 minutes played per game, which included two starts.

However, the bigger blow is Iguodala, who played significant roles in the Warriors’ championship runs. Unlike Casspi, Iguodala did not play against the Kings on Friday with a strained back. This recurring injury took center stage in Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals when he was seen limping on around the court.

As for Livingston, he missed Friday night’s game due to illness and skipped practice on Sunday. Nonetheless, by practicing on Monday, it is likely that Livingston will appear tomorrow.

It is expected that Nick Young and Patrick McCaw will see more time off the bench to make up for these injuries.
