For the last nine weeks, 49ers guard Brandon Fusco hasn’t looked forward to the traditional handshake with CEO Jed York after the game. He’s also noticed the tired face of coach Kyle Shanahan. Fusco and the rest of the offensive line say the team’s losing starts with them, and they’re crestfallen they haven’t played better.
That was particularly true after the 49ers’ 20-10 loss to the Cardinals at Levi’s, a game in which quarterback C.J. Beathard was sacked five times and hit 16 times overall.
The line also struggled with run blocking. Running back Carlos Hyde had seven carries for 31 yards.
“It’s just execution,” Fusco said. “The coaches are giving us good game plans. We are pros, we are paid and we are not doing our jobs.”
