OAKLAND–The Warriors brought just about everyone back from a team that needed just five games to down the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2017 NBA Finals.
Everyone except for Ian Clark.
The backup guard provided critical depth for Golden State in each of the last three seasons, and on Saturday evening, Clark finally received his second championship ring. With the New Orleans Pelicans in town on Saturday, Clark returned to Oracle Arena and received a loud standing ovation from fans that came to appreciate his three-point shooting off the bench and his hustle with the team’s second unit.
Prior to Saturday’s game, Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said he was “thrilled” to have the opportunity to host Clark, and highlighted the difference he made with Golden State as a core bench player for three years.
Clark signed a one-year, $1.57 million contract with New Orleans over the summer, and is averaging 5.4 points per game with the Pelicans this season.
Clark is the second former Warrior to receive a championship ring as a visitor this season, joining James Michael McAdoo who was honored when the Philadelphia 76ers came to town earlier in the month.
