Kerr takes home sixth career Coach of the Month honor

There was Draymond Green’s shoulder injury. There was Steph Curry’s sprained ankle. There was the end of a long road trip that took the Warriors to cities on opposite sides of the country.

Through it all, the Warriors finished the month of December with a 13-2 record.

Though it’s possible to make an argument Steve Kerr deserves the honor every month, Kerr overcame significant adversity to take home his sixth career Western Conference Coach of the Month award in December. Even though two of his team’s stars missed extended time over the course of a 15-game December slate, Kerr led the Warriors to a 13-2 mark, posting an .877 winning percentage which is the Warriors’ highest in franchise history in the month of December.

Kerr’s Warriors led the NBA in assists, blocked shots, point differential and opponent field goal percentage, and with Curry sidelined for more than three weeks, Golden State proved it could win games in a grind-it-out, defensive-minded fashion that put the rest of the NBA on notice.

The Warriors will play their first game of 2018 on Wednesday night in Dallas against the Mavericks, before traveling to Houston on Thursday night to meet the Rockets.
