Steph Curry expected to return against Raptors

After missing 13 of his team’s last 18 games, Warriors’ point guard Steph Curry is expected to return to action on Saturday evening against the Toronto Raptors.

Curry sprained his right ankle on December 4 in New Orleans and missed 11 straight games before coming back to the floor in a 38-point effort against the Memphis Grizzlies on December 30. Curry played five consecutive games following his return from injury, but re-aggravated his ankle on Wednesday during the Warriors’ morning shootaround.

The aggravation cost Curry a pair of games, as he sat out Golden State’s loss against the Los Angeles Clippers and remained sidelined for the team’s victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday evening. Reports from traveling beat writers indicated Curry was likely healthy enough to play on Friday, but with a back-to-back looming, head coach Steve Kerr elected to hold Curry out.

Golden State’s contest in Toronto is the second game of a five-game road trip that includes visits to Cleveland and Houston, two teams that figure to challenge the Warriors for NBA supremacy this year.
