SAN FRANCISCO – Friday afternoon the San Francisco Giants introduced their newest third baseman, former Tampa Ray Evan Longoria in a conference at AT&T Park.

Longoria will wear number 10 in his time in San Francisco. Giants majority owner Larry Bear joked the Giants made the executive decision to not un-retire Bill Terry’s number three, the number Longoria wore in Tampa Bay.

Longoria didn’t offer any ground-breaking insights during his introductory press conference, but he did talk about why he was optimistic that the Giants would turn the ship around after a 64-win season in 2017.

“The feeling is that we’ve made the appropriate changes,” Longoria said. “And along with having, you know, the mainstays like Larry said, are here for a long time, are committed to this organization. Just that belief that last year was not what this organization is all about. And that they continue to put one foot forward in front of the other in gaining ground to getting back to the World Series and the Postseason.”
