UPDATE: The Raiders have released Aldon Smith

Former 49ers and current Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith has entered rehab after a domestic violence incident last weekend, according to TMZ Sports. The victim in the alleged incident, Smith’s fiancee, told TMZ that her parents took Smith to rehab upon his request.

“I wish the best for Aldon,” Smith’s fiancee said. “And I’m scared for his life with his addiction. I cannot comment on the altercation, but I can tell you I love him and (am) so happy he turned to my family who considers him family, and hopefully he gets the help he truly needs.”

Police were searching for Smith on Sunday after he “fled the scene” where officers had responded to a domestic-violence complaint Saturday, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

“Caller says her ex-boyfriend is beating her up….also hear: ‘No please. No please.’ … it’s an ongoing issue,” a San Francisco police dispatcher told officers around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. “The guy’s name is Aldon Smith.”

After reportedly drinking two bottles of tequila, Smith allegedly bit his fiancee’s wrists and climbed out her window, possibly fleeing in a black Range Rover, according to dispatch audio reviewed by the San Jose Mercury News.

The is the seventh legal issue Smith has been involved in since he was selected with the seventh overall pick by the 49ers in 2011. Smith, still technically a member of the Oakland Raiders, has been suspended since November 2015 due to a hit-and-run that took place in August 2015.

Smith hasn’t played a full 16-game season since 2012, when he was named a NFC Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-Pro as a member of the 49ers. Smith was eventually released by the 49ers in 2015, after being arrested for his third DUI.
