Kerr on Curry: “There’s no way he plays in the first round. There’s no way”

OAKLAND – Happy Sunday.

That’s probably not a headline you wanted to hear on a Sunday afternoon if you’re a Warriors fan, but Steve Kerr was very clear about how he would handle his All-World point guard’s knee injury.

“Oh there’s no way he plays in the first round. There’s now way,” Kerr said Sunday before the Golden State Warriors hosted the Utah Jazz.

Saturday the Warriors released a statement that said Curry underwent an MRI, and was evaluated with a Grade 2 MCL sprain. The team said Curry would be re-evaluated in three weeks, which would be April 14.

The NBA regular season ends April 11, with the first round starting three days later on the 14th. With the talent the Warriors have, the popular opinion around league circles is the Warriors won’t be tested in the playoffs until the Western Conference Finals, where they would (should) meet the Houston Rockets.

Looks like Kerr believes that opinion, as he’s already announcing that his point guard won’t play in the first round.
