Steve Kerr calls Warriors’ performance in loss vs. Pacers ’embarrassing, pathetic’

The Warriors were blasted in Indiana on Thursday night. First by the Pacers in a listless 126-106 loss, and then by their head coach Steve Kerr after the game.

“Caring in general was the main problem,” Kerr told reporters. “Yeah, I’m embarrassed. I’m embarrassed. I know this game doesn’t mean anything in the seeding, but the playoffs start next week. It was an embarrassing effort. A pathetic effort.

“… Well, maybe they are [bored]. Maybe the game doesn’t matter. So, we’ll try next week. Hopefully we will.”

In addition to committing 16 turnovers, the 126 points is the most Golden State has allowed since a Feb. 22 win over the Clippers. Though still without Stephen Curry, All-Stars Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green all played in the game.

The Warriors have already clinched the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, making the their next three games meaningless for seeding purposes. Still, Kerr clearly seems to be concerned with the team’s level of effort this close to the postseason. Interestingly, Durant didn’t share the same view.

“Nah, I thought we cared tonight,” Durant said. “We cared. Over the last few games, we cared. …They came out with a better strategy, being more aggressive than us. … I think we care. I think everybody in this locker room cares about playing ball. I disagree with that, but I understand what he’s doing.”
