Bochy on Williamson home run: ‘I just haven’t seen many balls hit there, even in BP’

SAN FRANCISCO — Monday night San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy got to see something even he doesn’t see often – a 464 foot home run at AT&T Park.

“I just haven’t seen many balls hit there, even in BP,” said Bochy after the game. “With the wind blowing, that’s impressive. It just shows you how strong this guy is.”

Williamson crushed the fist pitch by Shawn Kelley to the deepest part of the park and then some flying past the 421ft mark in centerfield at 115 mph.

“It’s an area where a few guys can hit a ball and I think all his teammates were pretty impressed too,” Bochy chuckled.

Williamson’s home run funny enough almost hitting Barry Bond’s plaque in center commemorating his 756 career home runs.

Giants’ starting pitcher Chris Stratton was clearly impressed as well.

“That was crushed man,” said Stratton. “Its just nice to see him come up and do well for us. He’s provided the spark so far and hopefully we can keep rolling on these wins.”
