Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto is likely headed back to the disabled list on Monday according to Giants general manager Bobby Evans, NBC Sports’ Alex Pavlovic is reporting. Cueto will be re-evaluated this week.
Bobby Evans said Cueto likely will be placed back on DL today. No word on future steps yet, he saw doctors yesterday and will be re-evaluated early this week.

Cueto has already been on the DL twice this season with right elbow issues, which flared up again in his most recent start on Saturday against the Brewers. Cueto allowed four runs in four innings, and talked after the game about the pain he experienced.
“Every time I throw a pitch, it bothers me,” Cueto said through a translator.
Cueto met with Dr. James Andrews in May to evaluate whether the veteran right-hander would require Tommy John surgery. Dr. Andrews did not recommend surgery at the time, but it’s unclear if that diagnosis will change now that the issue has lingered.
In nine starts this season Cueto is 3-2 with a 3.23 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP.
