SAN FRANCISCO — Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced Wednesday that center fielder Steven Duggar will be placed on the 10-day disabled list with a bruised left shoulder.

Outfielder Gregor Blanco was called up from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Duggar. Blanco hit a walk-off home run in the River Cats’ game Tuesday and will be available for the Giants Wednesday night.

Duggar suffered the injury Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks after sliding awkwardly into second base and popping the shoulder out of joint. He rolled over and the shoulder popped back in, but Bochy said Duggar showed up to the ballpark Wednesday quite sore.

Bochy admitted he does not know if Duggar will return this season, and that surgery is a potential option.

Duggar had played major roles in the Giants’ wins over the D-Backs Monday and Tuesday night, including helping save a run Tuesday after cutting off a ball in the gap and whipping a throw in to Brandon Crawford to start a relay to home plate. Crawford threw to catcher Nick Hundley, who tagged D-Backs shortstop Nick Ahmed out at home to save a run and preserve the scoreless tie in the eighth. Duggar later walked in the bottom of the ninth and came around to score the only run of the game on Gorkys Hernandez’s walk-off single.
