Aramis Garcia hits first Giants home run in debut

What’s better than hitting a debut home run in front of your family? Aramis Garcia can answer that question tonight after blasting a solo home run to left field while his family looked on.

Garcia’s debut was off to a poor start after he struck out in his first two attempts. The debut came on the same day as Chris Shaw, who had the exact same result in his first two at-bats. Shaw struckout swinging, but then in his third appearance, he hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field, scoring Brandon Belt to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.

Then, Garcia snapped out of his short slump in fantastic fashion with his home run to give the Giants a 2-0 lead in the eighth inning. Garcia was given the traditional silent treatment back in the dugout before his teammates congratulated him and gave him the alternative sunflower seed treatment, showering him with seeds.
