It’s official, Steven Duggar will have surgery. Duggar tore the labrum in his left shoulder against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday diving back to second base. He came home on the next play to score the game-winning run on a pinch-hit single from Gorkys Hernandez, but an MRI revealed later that Duggar’s season was over.
Initially, the Giants hadn’t decided whether Duggar would have the surgery or undergo rehab, but manager Bruce Bochy acknowledged that the recommended course of action was to undergo surgery. But today, according to Alex Pavlovic, the decision has now been made for Duggar to have the surgery.

Duggar was in the clubhouse today with his arm in a sling. According to Pavlovic, Duggar did not respond well to the news.
“It was tough,” Duggar said. “I cried. I threw stuff. But once I got that out of my system it’s been laser-focused on rehab.”
The exact date and details of the surgery have not yet been determined.
