Pence sheds tears in NBC interview after hearing praise from teammates

SAN FRANCISCO – It’s been no secret that Hunter Pence’s time with the Giants may be running out. Pence is in the final year of a five-year, $90 million contract that he signed with the team in 2013.

But the past few days have been full of Pence memories and a nostalgic resurgence on the field. Bruce Bochy said Pence will lead off the final four games of the season. In his last eight games, he is batting .370 with two home runs and five RBIs.

Before tonight’s game, which concludes a three-game series with the San Diego Padres, Pence sat down with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Amy Gutierrez and listened to comments from his teammates about himself. It’s no surprise that the always authentic Pence failed to hold back tears.
