You can add another name to the shortlist of Giants GM candidates.

The Orange & Black interviewed Cubs senior VP of player development and amateur scouting Jason McLeod last week, according to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score. McLeod joins Rays senior VP of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, Brewers assistant GM Matt Arnold, and Dodgers exec Josh Byrnes, and MLB exec Kim Ng as the other candidates San Francisco has reportedly interviewed.

McLeod is seen as a strong candidate, and has been instrumental in the Cubs’ scouting and development system since 2011. McLeod is currently one of the highest-paid vice presidents of scouting and minor league development, according to Levine.

Under McLeod, the Cubs drafted a number of key pieces present on their 2016 World Series team, including Albert Almora, Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, and Ian Happ. McLeod also oversaw the drafting of Anthony Rizzo while as a scouting director under Theo Epstein in Boston, and helped bring Rizzo over to Chicago in 2012. McLeod’s first draft pick was Dustin Pedroia in 2004. McLeod has won a combined four titles as an executive with both clubs over the past two decades.

McLeod is under contract through 2021.
