OAKLAND – With Steph Curry and Draymond Green out, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant have shouldered the offensive burden placed on the Warriors the last two nights. On Saturday, Thompson was responsible for the game winning basket over the Kings, and celebrated with a flex and uncharacteristically passionate celebration. After the game Thompson, who is known for his relaxed demeanor, was asked was asked if his recent show of passion was from breaking out of the losing streak or something else
Klay attributed wearing his heart on his sleeve to the end of the Warriors’ time at Oracle.
“Definitely knowing it’s the last year in Oracle. I’m just trying to enjoy every night and play with as much passion as I can because it’ll just go by like that” Klay said snapping his fingers. “We won’t be able to play in front of the same people obviously and the Warriors will no longer be in the East Bay.”
The Warriors are currently in the midsts of their final season at Oracle Arena before moving to their new home in San Francisco at the Chase Center.
“We’re so blessed with the crowd we always have,” Klay said. “It’s easy to get up [in the morning] when there’s 20,000 people here every night and we’re selling out, I don’t take that for granted and knowing I was here when we built this thing makes me enjoy it even more.”
Tonight marked the second game in a row where Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant have both scored more than 30 points, and the second time the duo has combined for 70-plus points.
