Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins is targeting a return to the floor after Christmas according to the latest report by Logan Murdock of the San Jose Mercury News. Arguably even more interesting, is that Cousins was initially planning on playing during the Warriors’ upcoming road trip, which begins on Thursday vs. the Raptors, and concludes on Dec. 7 vs. the Bucks.

Cousins has not experienced any setbacks, but agreed with head trainer Rick Celebrini in pushing back the return date so he can “enter the lineup at peak form.” Cousins will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.

Cousins, 28, tore his Achilles tendon on Jan. 26 of last year, at the end of a game with the New Orleans Pelicans. Cousins participated in a scrimmage that also included Stephen Curry on Saturday according to Murdock.

Via the San Jose Mercury News:

“According to a player in the scrimmage, Cousins looked “solid.” The scrimmages have been a part of Cousins’ new six-day-a-week regimen with the team in anticipation of his pending return.”

Cousins signed a one-year, $5.2 million deal with the Warriors in July.
