Tolbert’s Beer Review: Alvarado Street’s Dank Shake Milkshake IPA

This week on Tolbert’s beer review Tom’s hands go rouge, there are glow sticks, and of course we have beer.

Today’s beer is from Alvarado Street Brewery down in Monterey who collaborated with Portland’s Great Notion Brewing. Together they created Dank Shake IPA, a milkshake IPA. Yes, a milkshake…IPA.

From themanual.com:

“One of the newer entries into the IPA family of beers is the Milkshake IPA, which is brewed with lactose for a full body. Fruit or vanilla tend to be the key flavoring ingredient. The first-ever version is attributed to Swedish brewery Omnipollo, but it has since been adapted by dozens of U.S. breweries”

The Dank Shake Milkshake IPA holds it’s own if not only in name. Although, it’s name can only be surpassed by Cellarmaker’s Tiny Dankster. Queue Tom butchering Tiny Dancer by Elton John.

Just hurry up and try the beer Tom.

“Wow that is a lot! I thought that would have a little bit of bite to it but god that one is good, it’s like juice! Joooo-uce,” Tolbert said.

As Kashmir and Rajneesh would tell the great Pauly Shore “Don’t wheez the juice!”
