There are some players in the NBA who – when given the opportunity to take a last-second shot – will dribble out the clock and pretend like they got the shot off a bit late, as to not skew their 3-point shooting percentages.
Andre Iguodala is not one of those players. The Arizona product has regularly taken those deep 3-point attempts during his tenure with the Golden State Warriors.
All that to say, it’s not a surprise to see Andre Iguodala hurling the ball across the court to end the half. But Saturday night in Portland one got a bit out of hand.
In the waning moments of the first half, Iguodala snatched a rebound with about a second left on the clock. He couldn’t quite get a handle on the ball as it rolled towards half court and never got it off the ground before the buzzer sounded.
Who cares? Bombs away.

As you can see in the video, Iguodala finally does pick up the ball after the horn and throws it – loosely speaking – in the general direction of the basket, an act the referees on hand took offense to.
In a bizarre move, the crew deemed Iguodala made a “hostile act” by throwing the ball into the stands, and ejected the former All-Star.
Check out the video and see if you agree with the referees decision. Regardless, the Warriors will be without their vet for the rest of the contest.
