OAKLAND – He’s getting closer folks. Head coach Steve Kerr today declined to give an exact return date, but said that DeMarcus Cousins’s return, “Is closer now… It seems to me like he’s gotten through a barrier now.”
Despite Kerr not giving a closer timeline in terms of whether the return is expected in weeks, rather than months, the New York Times’ Marc Stein reported just after Kerr’s nightly press conference that the Warriors do in fact have an expected date for Cousins’s return, and you can be sure NBA commissioner Adam Silver is happy about it.
According to Stein, the Warriors are hoping Cousins returns on the team’s upcoming trip to Los Angeles on January 18 and 21, when the Warriors are slated to play the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers, respectively.
The target range for DeMarcus Cousins' debut with the Warriors is the team's upcoming trip to Los Angeles, @nytsports has learned. Golden State plays the Clippers on Jan. 18 and the Lakers on Jan. 21

While Kerr didn’t mention this timeline in tonight’s press conference, he was clear that Cousins has made significant progress and that the Warriors have been focusing on how they will incorporate Cousins into the lineup all season long:
