Scott Van Pelt done with Steph slander: ‘Keep eating these 3s’

Scott Van Pelt isn’t having any of your Stephen Curry criticism.

The Sports Center host further endeared himself to Warriors fans after Golden State’s blowout win vs. the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. For the second time in five days, Van Pelt gave an impassioned defense of Curry, who torched the Blazers in Game 1 of the West Finals with 36 points and nine three pointers.

“How’s that Steph slander working out for all y’all people?” Van Pelt asked rhetorically during a highlight package from Game 1. “You guys still having fun with the jokes? We doing jokes on the internet still? Keep eating these 3s. This is for all y’all that got jokes about Steph.”

Van Pelt also defended Curry after his insane performance in Game 6 vs. the Rockets, when the two-time MVP dropped 33 points in the second half en route to an improbable Warriors win.

“Yes you’re right the Rockets couldn’t get a stop,” Van Pelt said to Stephen A. Smith. “But they couldn’t get a stop because a guy — who for whatever reason — gets slandered like he’s a bum, and I’m talking about Steph Curry when he has bad games.

“People talk about this guy reckless like he’s not a great player. And when he goes berserk in the fourth, they win that game because he — and Klay (Thompson) absolutely — team up and they’re enough to win, and Houston couldn’t stop it. (P.J.) Tucker was in his face! I don’t know what Tucker’s supposed to do when Steph buries a 3. Like that’s a great player making a great play.”

Preach SVP, preach.
