Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade think Klay should have made All-NBA Team

Two days ago, Klay Thompson found out he’d been rejected from all three All-NBA teams, with the likes of Kemba Walker and Russell Westbrook finishing above him in the voting for All-NBA third team. Even Bradley Beal, who also didn’t make an All-NBA team, received more votes than Thompson.

The ramifications of that mean that Thompson will not be eligible for the “supermax” contract, a 5-year, $221 million contract, and the max he can receive is 5 years, $191 million. Thompson seemed more bothered at the fact that he was being essentially dissed for sacrificing stats for success, while neither Walker or Beal made the playoffs.

The Warriors President of Basketball Operations Bob Myers said yesterday on KNBR 680 with Tom Tolbert that although Thomspon may not be interested in the spotlight or attention of Kevin Durant or Stephen Curry, he does want to be respected both by and alongside his peers.

Yesterday, Dwyane Wade posted a video on his Instagram story of him and his wife, Gabrielle Union, expressing their support for Thompson. Wade expressed a sort of bemused gratitude at the fact that he received an All-NBA vote, but he and Union agreed that Thompson should have been the recipient of that vote and many more.

Wade joked, “Baby, did you vote for me?”

Union shook her head, saying, “No. I voted for Klay Thompson.”

Wade concurred, saying, “I voted for Klay too, but I don’t get a say so… whoever voted for me, I do appreciate you, but you definitely could have saved that vote for one of the people who deserved it.”

Union jumped in again, whispering, “Klay Thompson.”

As Wade signed off, saying, “Thank you (for the vote), but I didn’t need it,” Union jumped in again, saying, “You know who needed it? Klay Thompson.”
