Kevon Looney’s injury looks to be a lot more serious than what was initially reported. According to an official update from the Warriors, Looney’s collarbone injury is beyond what The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on Sunday night. While Charania said that Looney suffered a “sprained collarbone,” the Warriors say Looney has suffered a non-displaced first costal cartilage fracture and is out indefinitely.
This update came after earlier reports of a “clean” X-Ray on Sunday:
X-rays on Kevon Looney (chest) came back clean.

Looney suffered the injury in the third quarter on a play in which Kawhi Leonard drove to the hoop and essentially threw Looney to the ground (shown above). Looney was sent flying and landed on his chest, leaving the game at that point. He did not return to the game and was also called for a foul on the play.
As for Klay Thompson, the Warriors announced he has a “mild strain of his hamstring” which is a vague term that can mean anything from a hyperextension of a muscle to a lower-grade tear like the one Kevin Durant is recovering from. According to the Warriors, he is questionable for Game 3 in Oakland. Here’s the full update:
According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, a strain is defined as, “… an injury to a muscle or tendon (fibrous cords of tissue that connect muscle to bone). In a strain, a muscle or tendon is stretched or torn.”
