Ahead of Thursday night’s NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors have already made their first move.

ESPN NBA insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, reported Thursday morning that the Warriors have purchased the Atlanta Hawks’ No. 41 pick in the draft. Golden State will be sending $1.3 million along with a 2024 second-round pick to Atlanta. With this move the Warriors now hold three picks in Thursday nights draft: Nos. 28, 41, and 58.

With the prospect of having both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson’s max contracts on the payroll while both are injured, it’s no surprise that the Warriors are making moves to acquire players that won’t break the bank to fill out the rest of their roster. This is not the first time Bob Myers and Co. have made a move similar to this. In the 2017 NBA Draft they purchased Jordan Bell from the Chicago Bulls, and in 2016 purchased Patrick McCaw from the Bucks.

The NBA Draft starts Thursday at 4:00 P.M. and can be watched on ESPN.
