What would happen if two of the greatest players on the planet signed for the same team? That’s what both Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are discussing together, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne.
That obviously does not bode well for the Golden State Warriors, who would not have any ability to acquire Leonard unless they did so a sign-and-trade package that seems overwhelmingly unlikely at this point. According to Wojnarowski, Durant and Leonard have discussed two clear possibilities: the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Reporting w/ @RamonaShelburne: Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard have been discussing free agent scenarios that could include a future with them playing together. For now, there are two clear possibilities for them to sign into the same franchise: Clippers and Knicks. Story soon.

It has long been surmised that Durant would head to the Knicks and Leonard would go to the Clippers, perhaps leaving the two wondering if they can change the other’s mind to team up, as they are the only two shared suitors for both players. The NBA’s free agency period opens on June 30 at 6 p.m. ET, although Wojnarowski reported on Friday that it would likely take Durant more time than by Sunday to decide where he’ll play.
