D’Angelo Russell is officially a member of the Golden State Warriors. After the absurdity of this year’s free agency period and the flurry of massive moves made, Russell addressed the media for the first time as a Warriors player. One of the first things Russell was asked about was the question which will loom large over his Warriors tenure; what’s his future with the team? How does Russell feel about the high potential of being traded?
“It’s the business of it. It is what it is,” Russell said. “You put yourself in a position to go somewhere a long time and it might not be what it is a year later… we’ll just see, I can’t predict it.”
As for whether Russell was surprised by being traded to the Warriors, Russell said he knew there was a possibility it could come true.
“There were a lot of surprises just all around throughout free agency, so I just think it’s one to add to it, honestly,” Russell said. “I knew it was an opportunity. I knew it was something that could possibly be true. We had to wait for a few other piece kind of did what they did, and then it kind of came to light.”
