It’s that time of year again; the time for Madden ratings to hit the internet to receive reactions that live on a spectrum from pure rage to utter confusion. While Madden ratings are far from exact or accurate, it often allows you to visualize teams in a general sense for the first time, which is why woeful ratings for players who probably weren’t followed too closely by the folks at Madden can disappoint so consistently.

The 49ers also finished 4-12 last season, so it’s unlikely EA was ever going to give them the benefit of the doubt. At the top of the board, however, there are still some standouts. Richard Sherman, George Kittle and Joe Staley all hit the 90-plus mark, although Kittle, who is the fourth-highest ranked tight end in the game was given a lower rating than Delanie Walker (92 overall), who played just one game last season, and whose highest receiving yardage in his career (1088 yards with 6 TDs in 2015) was less than Kittle’s, who caught for 1377 yards and 5 TDs last season and is a 90 this year.

The list continues with the 49ers having three running backs rated 82 or 83 in Matt Breida, Jerick McKinnon and Tevin Coleman. But the range that will likely disappoint some fans is the one that follows, with Nick Bosa and Jimmy Garoppolo both receiving 78 overall ratings.

The list only gets uglier from there, with Deebo Samuel (71 overall) receiving the second-highest rookie rating on the team:

Jalen Hurd, Nick Mullens and rookie punter Mitch Wishnowsky all pulled in 68 overall ratings:

Meanwhile, C.J. Beathard failed to crack 60, and is slotted behind a bunch of first- and second-year players.

Lastly, two long-snappers fill out the roster with the hilariously-low 43- and 42 overall ratings:
