Kevin Pillar robs Rockies, saves Giants with incredible catch

If most of the Giants’ hitters don’t want to leave Coors Field because of their bats, Kevin Pillar’s glove might want to stay in Colorado.

The Giants outfielder, afforded time in his natural center field ever since Steven Duggar was hurt and then banished to Triple-A, has had a tremendous series in the field thus far against the Rockies, never looking better than in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s game.

With no outs in a game the Giants were leading 3-1, Tony Wolters volleyed what looked like a single to shallow left-center. But Pillar had a bead on it. With full extension and a belly-flop to boot, Pillar laid out to make a tremendous catch and keep the Rockies off the basepaths.
