The Indians trading away Trevor Bauer’s baggage and receiving Yasiel Puig’s seems poignant.
Minutes after reports surfaced that the Indians, Padres and Reds had agreed on a three-team deal that involved Puig going to Cleveland and Bauer going to Cincinnati, Puig, still in the game, was involved in a wild brawl.
Reds reliever Amir Garrett, being lifted after allowing a ninth-inning home run, charged at the Pirates dugout Tuesday at Great American Ballpark. He threw some off-balance punches as both benches cleared in a real fight, rarely seen in baseball.
The scrum had died down at about 2:15 of the above video before Puig charged at Pittsburgh pitcher Kyle Crick, multiple Reds (and a Pirate) holding him back from attacking. Puig was ejected from the game.
Perhaps the medicals will have to be exchanged again before the deal is consummated, as Puig is leaving Cincinnati with some fireworks.
