Mauricio Dubon makes immediate glove statement in Giants debut

Welcome to San Francisco, Mauricio Dubon.

In his Giants debut and first MLB start, Dubon made his presence felt right away. In the top of the second, with Wil Myers on first, Ty France hit a shot up the middle. Luckily for the Giants, Dubon was headed that way due to a stealing Myers. The rookie second baseman sprawled out for the ball then got up and threw France out at first, flashing just part of the reason Farhan Zaidi traded for the youngster at the trade deadline this year.

The Giants weren’t done showing off the leather. In the next at bat — with a runner on second — Luis Urias hit what looked to be a bloop single into right field. That was until Mike Yastrzemski came rushing in to make a diving play of his own. A situation that could have been troublesome for Dereck Rodriguez was saved by two of the gloves behind him.
