Add Klay Thompson to the list of Warriors players and coaches who have expressed public opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration.
Thompson posted a message on his Instagram account criticizing the Trump Administration for not granting temporary protected status to Bahamians displaced by Hurricane Dorian, which has devastated portions of the islands.
“Shame on our current administration for not welcoming our Bahamian neighbors in their greatest time of need,” he wrote. “I’ve been so lucky to visit my family in Nassau since childhood, and in those times I’ve seen countless Americans use the Bahamian islands as their playground for letting loose and vacationing. And now we turn our back on the people who welcomed us with open arms, when they’ve lost everything !?”
Despite that fact that Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan says the Administration has already processed thousands of Bahamians and that they “will accept anyone on humanitarian reasons that needs to come here,” Trump has sung a different tune.
“We have to be very careful,” the president said. “Everybody needs totally proper documentation because, look, the Bahamas had some tremendous problems with people going to the Bahamas that weren’t supposed to be there.
“I don’t want to allow people that weren’t supposed to be in the Bahamas to come into the United States, including some very bad people and some very bad gang members, and some very, very bad drug dealers. So, we’re going to be very strong on that.”
Thompson concluded his post by saying: “There’s no excuse for this… and if you have one your a real piece of (poop emoji).”
