The Warriors are taking a low-risk flyer on former Suns wing Marquese Chriss, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Free agent forward Marquese Chriss — 8th pick in 2016 NBA Draft — has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Chriss’ deal with the Warriors is of the one-year variety and is non-guaranteed according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. The Warriors are hard-capped and don’t have much room to sign a 15th player, but are likely bringing Chriss in to compete for the 14th spot that is currently Alfonzo McKinnie’s to lose.
Chriss, 22, was the eighth-overall pick by the Kings in the 2016 Draft before being immediately traded to Phoenix for a package of players. He hasn’t come close to living up to his lofty draft position and was traded by the Suns last offseason after two uneven years with the team. Chriss spent time with both the Cavaliers and Rockets last season, appearing in 43 games and starting in two.
Chriss has started in 126 games over three seasons, averaging over seven points and four rebounds per game, while shooting slightly under 30 percent from deep. Ironically, Chriss’ best season was his first, when he averaged over nine points per game while shooting 32 percent from 3-point range.
