GLENDALE, Ariz. — If those around the Giants organization feel slighted that they only got the chance to root for Madison Bumgarner and not Mason Saunders, it might not be too late.

Giants fans in the San Jose area will get their chance to pay tribute to Saunders, the rodeo alias of the former Giants star pitcher, with “Mason Saunders Night” on June 5 at Excite Ballpark.

According to the team’s release, there will be a “San Jose Giants/Rodeo Shirsey giveaway, themed promotions and more.” There will be prizes for fans who dress up in aliases, and free tickets to future games will be given to fans with Bumgarner jerseys or rodeo outfits.

The Athletic recently uncovered Bumgarner’s alter ego, which will follow him the rest of his career and beyond.

“This ain’t our first rodeo,” Matt Alongi, San Jose Giants VP of marketing, said in the release. “The San Jose Giants are proud to celebrate one of their all-time greats with a fun-filled entertaining night at the ballpark. We want to make sure that Madison is not only remembered for what he did on the baseball field, but also celebrate his unique accomplishments in the rodeo arena. We hope that Mason will be able to join us but understand he may have other commitments at this time of the year.”
