Perhaps the backup-catcher competition is extending through the Major League Baseball shutdown.

Who’s more entertaining as San Francisco is sheltering in place?

Both Tyler Heineman and Rob Brantly, who were battling each other to be Buster Posey’s understudy before coronavirus wreaked global havoc, have been entertaining fans from afar, Heineman with the aid of a deck of cards and Brantly with a helping hand from his wife.

Heineman, a magician who already had captivated the team, has been asking his Twitter followers how they want to be entertained. After they got a taste of his magic, that’s what the crowd chose.

And then there’s Brantly, the 30-year-old ball of energy who is trying to keep his swing ready through some grooved pitches from his wife:

The spring battle was pretty tight, as is this faceoff.
