You read that right. Following Deebo Samuel’s Jones’ fracture and subsequent surgery, followed by Richie James Jr.’s wrist fracture, Kendrick Bourne is on the recruiting trail for the 49ers. On Sunday, Bourne tweeted at the 49ers and Bryant, discernibly encouraging the team to sign him.

Bryant responded three minutes later, apparently interested. It’s been more than two years since Bryant played his last snap in the NFL, after eight years with the Cowboys, featuring three Pro Bowl seasons and one first-team All-Pro seasons. He has 75 touchdown receptions and 7,677 receiving yards in hi career. After failing to come to terms with the Cowboys in 2018, he signed with the New Orleans Saints, but tore his Achilles in a practice and never played a game with them. He tweeted last year that he wasn’t currently interested in signing, and was focused on taking care of himself.

Of course, someone who’s always happy to talk about another comeback, just like his mentor, Jerry Rice, is Terrell Owens. Owens, probably joking, but also notorious for wanting to prove he can still return to the NFL, threw his hat into the ring, too.
