Draymond Green says LeBron James ‘arguably the greatest player of all time,’ should run for president

After playing each other in The Finals for four years in a row, the Warriors and Cavaliers are the closest thing we’ve had to a classic NBA rivalry as of late. There was no love lost between the teams during that run, but it seems like the respect for one another runs deep.

Draymond Green joined First Take on Tuesday morning, apparently mid-Peloton workout, and had some very nice things to say about one LeBron James.

“I think LeBron wields a lot of power, as he should,” Green told Max Kellerman and Stephen A. Smith. “Arguably the greatest player of all time. If you look at his resume, it’s flawless, on and off the court. The things he’s been able to do on the court, obviously spectacular. But it’s more important, the things he’s been able to accomplish off the court.”

Green’s comment on James came after he was asked about the power LeBron has over the other players, and how his decision to play (or not play) during the coronavirus pandemic will lead others.

He offered his full support for The King, even going so far as to suggest he should run for president.

“It’s not about, for me, what he’s done on the basketball court,” Green said. “As a competitor I enjoy playing against him. You enjoy playing against the best. But what he’s done off the court, the initiatives that he’s been able to lead, and this is just another example of that, I have the utmost respect for him. And hopefully he runs for president one day.”

There is a bit of backstory here for why Green might be so complimentary about James.

Back in March of 2019 Green signed with Klutch Sports Group, a sports agency founded by LeBron’s childhood friend Rich Paul. Six months later, Green signed a four-year contract extension with the Warriors worth $100 million.

Green even took the time to wear a Klutch Sports Group tee shirt in his interview on ESPN.
