Earlier this week former Giant catcher Stephen Vogt went on the leader and said he thinks Joey Bart “is going to be a really good catcher for a very long time.” This weekend his prediction got off to a good start.
In the top of the fifth with the score knotted at zeros Vogt chopped at a fastball and sent it spinning high in the air towards the Giants bench. With the infield shifted to the right side it would’ve been a tough play for Evan Longoria at full sprint.
But Longoria didn’t get the chance to make the play. The Giants’ 23-year-old star prospect beat Longoria to the spot and made a tumbling catch before the ball hit the ground.

The Georgia Tech product recorded a hit in his first three games in San Francisco (all doubles) while scoring a run and knocking one in during the process. He has yet to record an error during his short stint in the majors.
