Friday’s Gaints-Padres game at Petco Park has been suspended due to a positive COVID test within the Giants organization, the team confirmed shortly after the game was scheduled to take place. MLB has also announced that Saturday’s game has been postponed as well, “out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and contract tracing to be conducted.”
The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that the individual in question is a Giants player.
“MLB will announce additional information regarding the status of our series with San Diego as soon as possible,” the team said in a statement.
This is the first positive for the Giants since intake testing began, and the first they’ve announced since July 6.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
