That wasn’t initially clear for Mariners second baseman Dylan Moore, who took a 99 mph, Sam Coonrod fastball directly off his helmet in the seventh inning of Wednesday’s Giants game.
Moore collapsed to the ground, head in hands, while catcher Joey Bart squatted behind him, his head fixed to the ground. The rest of the Giants on the field followed suit, fearing the worst.
Incredibly, Moore got up under his own power and stayed in the game, eventually trotting to first base after passing cognitive tests with the Mariners team doctor at home plate.
