Tim Flannery is not out of the woods, but he is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery.

The beloved former Giants coach announced Friday that after about a weeks-long stay at a San Diego hospital that included “seven or more” surgeries, he has returned home after a staph infection that made life hell.

Flannery had to be rushed to care on Oct. 18 because “my body was sick, my blood work said it was worse.” He was treated for a staph infection that proved elusive and sounds horrific.

“I’ve hallucinated, wept, fought off doubt, and surrendered to God, and hung on,” Flannery said through the Facebook page of his band, Tim Flannery and Lunatic Fringe. “It’s still a long way from being healed but Thank you to the amazing team of doctors at Scripps Institute, & the in the moment decision makers.

“… I have eliminated poison, things that have stolen the ‘good life’, and just wanted you to know if you are reading this you are a part of the healing.”

The family of the 63-year-old Flannery, a good friend of Bruce Bochy’s who was the third-base coach from 2007-14, asked for privacy and said they could not host visitors.

“We will however always welcome your prayers & support as it has filled this family up so much & we are certain it helped Flan power through this & your continued love & healing has been amazing and we just can’t thank you enough,” the post read.
