USF Dons go wild in locker room after shocking upset of No. 4 Virginia

The University of San Francisco basketball team already has something to be thankful for in this young college basketball season.

The Dons provided the college basketball world with the first shocking upset of the young season on Friday, beating the No. 4 ranked University of Virginia 61-60 in the Homelight Classic, thanks to a late 8-0 run. It’s the Dons’ first win over a top five ranked opponent since 1981.

“For us to be able to compete like this on a national stage, on national TV, against one of the winningest programs in the country, this is a big, big step for our program,” said Todd Golden, the Dons’ 35-year-old coach told the Associated Press.

After the game, the Dons erupted in a locker room celebration that included a gatorade bath for Golden.
