Robert Saleh’s New York Jets staff continues to come into focus, and so, too, does the 49ers’. Already, Saleh, as expected, is hiring former 49ers passing game coordinator Mike Lafleur as his offensive coordinator.
According to Mike Silver of NFL Network, Saleh will also be hiring 49ers offensive line coach as his offensive line coach/run game coordinator, which certainly entails a raise. San Francisco brought in Chris Foerster a few years ago and promoted him to assistant offensive line coach this year. He’ll take over the offensive line room.
Another interesting wrinkle: Rich Scangarello will return as the team’s quarterbacks coach. It is yet unclear what that means for the team’s current quarterbacks coach, Shane Day, who has held that role for the last two years. Scangarello held that position in 2018 before becoming Vic Fangio’s offensive coordinator in 2019. He was fired at the end of the season and spent last year as a senior offensive assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Meanwhile, Niners run game coordinator Mike McDaniel has been offered the OC position by HC Kyle Shanahan and will likely accept. Chris Foerster will replace Benton as OL coach. Rich Scangarello comes back as QB coach.

On Monday, the 49ers announced the obvious: DeMeco Ryans would be promoted to defensive coordinator and Mike McDaniel would be promoted to offensive coordinator. Free agent Kyle Juszczyk was ecstatic.
