Oddsmaker says 49ers among favorites for Russell Wilson if traded

It’s happening! Russell Wilson to the 49ers! Done deal. No need to read any further. He’s now the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. Don’t even google it. It’s definitely real and totally legitimate.

Jokes. 

Wilson has been using his leverage as the Seahawks’ franchise quarterback, saying that he’s not sure if he’ll finish his career in Seattle and that he’s not happy with the amount of hits he’s taken. Now there’s a lot of straw man arguments going on regarding the hits Wilson takes.

Is Wilson hit too much? Yes. Is some of that his fault? Yes. Is some of that the fault of the offensive line? Yes.

Wilson has been sacked 394 times in nine seasons. Of those sacks, 47 were in 2020. He led the league with 48 sacks in 2019 and took a career-high 51 sacks in 2018.

So, let’s say, for fun, this isn’t Wilson just using his leverage to get his team to improve the offensive line and he actually does want out. Somehow, according to online sportsbook BetOnline, the fifth-most likely team to acquire Wilson is… the San Francisco 49ers at +900 odds.
