The most intriguing part of San Francisco’s 2021 spring training campaign is back to turning heads.
Heliot Ramos, the young slugger who hit a measly .410 in 39 at bats in Arizona, is having himself a day in Sacramento, where the Giants and Athletics’ alternate site rosters are scrimmaging. Ramos started his day with a single to center field, and followed it up with the game’s first RBI in the third inning when he drove home Will Wilson to put the Giants up 1-0.
But all his damage wasn’t done at the plate. In the 6th inning Ramos flashed some major leather in right field when he laid out and snagged a ball that looked destined for the corner.
It should be a while before we see Ramos at 3rd and King (expect July or August at the soonest), but he’s worth keeping an eye on until then.
