Julio Jones says he’s ‘out’ of Atlanta, wants to go to winner during live phone call

Well, that’s something. The Julio Jones sweepstakes is about to go into overdrive in the coming week.

It was reported last week that the Atlanta Falcons prefer to trade Jones, who if traded after June 1, would save them roughly $15 million, and is one of the only viable avenues they have to create cap space. They cannot currently afford to sign their rookie draft class, including the No. 4 overall pick, Kyle Pitts.

Jones was called on air by FS1’s Shannon Sharpe, who asked him whether he’s staying with the Falcons and whether he’d be interested in going to the Dallas Cowboys.

“I’m outta there, man,” Jones said. “Right now, shit, I want to win… I ain’t going to Dallas.”

Shortly after, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Falcons are trying to get a first-round pick for Jones, which the 49ers don’t have for the next two seasons. But teams don’t believe the Falcons will be offered that. While they prefer not to trade Jones in the NFC, they would do so for the right compensation.
