As part of Major League Baseball’s continued goal of attracting new viewers by shaking up the viewing experience, this weekend’s series between the Giants and Phillies will available to watch exclusively on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service.
This means those of you that typically watch the Giants on NBC Sports Bay Area or via the local major network affiliates will not be able to watch on those channels. Peacock, which is a for-pay streaming service, will make the games available for free, though prospective viewers will still have to sign up for their “free tier” of services.
The games will feature a joint broadcast with Jon Miller serving as play-by-play announcer, alongside Mike Krukow and Phillies analysts John Kruk and Jimmy Rollins.
This is not the first time the Giants have been pulled from TV as part of MLB’s larger initiative to stream their games on digital platforms. The Giants had a game streamed exclusively on YouTube earlier this season and Facebook only games in previous years.
As always, you can listen to the entire weekend series on KNBR 104.5 / 680, streaming live on KNBR.com or via the KNBR app. Here’s our tentative schedule for the weekend:
