Steve Kerr and Kevin Durant will be reunited again at this year’s Olympics in Tokyo. Kerr will be one of the United States’ coaches, where he’ll coach Durant, along with Draymond Green and other stars not named Stephen Curry, who declined to play in what was likely his last Olympic opportunity.

There was a bit of friction between KD and Kerr after Kerr said that he enjoyed the 2019-20 season, in which the Warriors had the worst record in the NBA, more than the 2018-19 season, in which they lost to the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Finals.

Kerr told NBC Bay Area’s Raj Mathai that he is “thrilled to be coaching KD again” and was effusive in his praise of Durant.

“It was a wonderful relationship,” Kerr said. “I know people want to focus on the end when maybe it didn’t finish so well with the injury and his departure, but everything about Kevin and his involvement in the Olympics and coaching him again, it all excites me.”

One of the more eye-catching quotes was Kerr saying Durant is more gifted than Michael Jordan, with regards to his unparalleled skillset and size.

“I think he’s more gifted, I really do,” Kerr said. “That’s saying something, but Kevin is a different… entirely different breed. He’s 6-11 with guard skills, unlimited 3-point range, passing, shot-blocking. His shot-blocking at the rim, it’s just stunning. Watching him this year was really, really gratifying to see.”
