They probably are not options for this season, but a pair of prospects have put themselves on the Giants’ radar for next year.

Infielder Will Wilson and outfielder Diego Rincones were promoted from High-A Eugene to Double-A Richmond on Tuesday, the former a 2019 first-round pick, the latter a 2015 signing out of Venezuela.

Wilson, who was essentially bought by the Giants in December 2019 when they agreed to absorb Zack Cozart’s $13 million from the Angels in exchange for the North Carolina State product, had torn up the Northwest League. His .837 OPS was ninth best and his 10 home runs was tied for second in the league. He slashed .251/.339/.497 while predominantly playing shortstop after impressing in major league spring training.

The righty-hitting Wilson, who turns 23 this month, now will get tested against better competition, the jump from A-ball to Double-A significant. The No. 12 Giants prospect also is leaving a hole at Eugene, and it will be curious to see if hot-hitting top prospect Marco Luciano, who’s at Low-A San Jose, fills it.

As for Rincones, it was a short stay at Eugene, where the righty hitter played just 25 games after he was a part of the Venezuelan National Team in Olympic qualifiers. With Eugene, the 22-year-old slashed .300/.385/.533 with five home runs and 10 walks to 19 strikeouts. He spent his time in left field and is known for having a cannon of an arm.
