It was a busy 2020 for MarinHealth, and not just for the reasons you might expect during a pandemic. The health care provider also opened their new state-of-the-art Oak Pavilion Medical Center in Greenbrae in the Fall.

New CEO David Klein joined KNBR’s Brian Murphy to discuss the year that was and look into the future.

“It’s been a great year,” Klein said. “To come into a new hospital during a pandemic. Opening up a brand new hospital building with what was going on around us was quite an experience.”

Additionally, Marin Health has been teaming up with localized, highly specialized care throughout Marin and the North Bay, including UCSF Health. That’s a great relationship that Dr. Klein sees expanding.

“One of the best places to not only give and receive care is strong community hospitals that have academic affiliation. You really get the best of both worlds. We’ve been able to provide highly specialized care in a key number of areas due to our great alliance with USCF Health.

“Folks don’t really have to travel for top level care, they can stay close to home, and healthcare really should be provided close to home.”

The Oak Pavilion hospital is of the most technologically advanced medical centers in the state of California. Adding treatments and technology that enhance ability to provide care and safety.

“I’ve personally had the opportunity to open up three or four brand new hospitals and Marin Health is by far the most technologically advanced facility that I’ve ever worked in.”

But it’s not just technology that’s important for Marin Health to remain on the cutting edge moving forward. It’s their commitment to fostering a healthy culture.

“The culture is really important in an organization, not just to work as a team but to provide the type of environment that patients would like to be treated at.

“Every role is equally important. There’s not one role that is more important than the others. And I think our goal is to continue to provide executive care to the patients that we do have the privilege to serve and the honor to serve. As part of that we need to celebrate success, and we’ve had a few, and we need to place value on taking care of each other, and ourselves, so we can be healthy mind, body and spirit and provide the best care to our patients.”
